Hyunju Chung is an Associate Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at LSU. Her research interests are on the areas of phonological acquisition, speech acoustics, and speech sound disorders. Her research especially focuses on examining speech produced by children with and without speech sound disorders and characterizing cross-linguistic differences in the speech of children and adults. During her free time, she loves spending time with her son and exploring new places in the city!
Delaney Offutt-Stern, Undergraduate Research Assistant
Delaney is an undergraduate student studying Communication Disorders and Psychology. Her research interests include fluency disorders and acoustic perception of speech sounds in children. After graduating in May 2027, Delaney plans to pursue her masters in Speech-Language Pathology. Fun fact: Delaney does ballet!

Kaylee Sharpe is an undergraduate student at Louisiana State University majoring in Communication Disorders. Her research interests include Speech Sound Disorders in children and how they can affect communication development. After graduating in Spring 2027, Kaylee plans to attend graduate school to become a Speech Language Pathologist. Fun Fact: Kaylee loves spending time with her friends and family and enjoys being outdoors!
Sydney Hicks, Undergraduate Research Assistant

Sidney Hicks is a third-year undergraduate student from Natchitoches, Louisiana, studying Communication Disorders. Sidney is excited to be part of the Child and Speech Lab and interested in learning more about child language acquisition and speech intelligibility. She hopes that gaining experience in these areas will strengthen her research and clinical skills and prepare her for a future career as a speech-language pathologist.
Gabrielle O'Neill, Undergraduate Research Assistant
Gabby is an undergraduate student at Louisiana State University majoring in Communication Sciences and Disorders. Her research interest includes Pediatric Speech Sound Disorders. After graduating in Spring 2027, Gabby plans to attend graduate school to become a Speech Language Pathologist. Fun Fact: Gabby loves to travel and try new restaurants!
Zoey Gautreau, Undergraduate Research Assistant
Zoey is an undergraduate student at Louisiana State University majoring in Communication Disorders. Her research interests include analyzing the differences in speech sound patterns between children and adults. After graduating in Fall 2026, Zoey plans to attend graduate school to become a Speech Language Pathologist. Fun Fact: Zoey loves to play pickleball!
Hannah Rogers, Undergraduate Research Assistant
Hannah is an undergraduate student at Louisiana State University majoring in Communication Disorders with minors in Spanish and Honors. She has a passion for helping others and is eager to learn more about child speech learning. After graduating in May 2027, she plans to attend grad school to pursue becoming a speech pathologist in the school systems. A fun fact about Hannah is she loves to travel and has been to three countries so far.
Jiahui Bai, Graduate Research Assistant
Jiahui Bai is a PhD student in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at LSU. Jiahui completed her Master’s degree in linguistics at Sichuan University, China. Jiahui conducted research on Mandarin fillers using acoustic and statistical analyses during her Master’s studies. Her research interests include prosody, fillers, turn-taking, and speech sound disorders. Outside of her research, she enjoys writing and exploring new activities in the city.
